Weekly eBay Grails 3/20

First of all, I want to say that I hope you are all safe and well in these trying times. It is scientifically proven that there has been no time more needing of retail therapy than the present. Each time I feel a sliver of fear or dread enter my mind I fire up the good ole virtual shopping cart to spend away my feelings.

What I have learned in the past few days is that there are more important jawns to be copped than a beautiful, if not gently worn, Sukajan. That being said, I love spending money on myself more than the next guy so my relentless eBay addiction has been not been thwarted, it is merely less condonable than usual. So, without further delay, I present to you my favorite finds on eBay this week.

Tapestries got a deservedly bad rap in college but a beautiful woven tapestry like this one can go a long way to turn your house one-bedroom apartment into a home nicer than average one-bedroom apartment.

Sukajans, or souvenir jackets, have a really interesting history in Japan. After WWII, American soldiers still in the country used leftover parachutes to create light teddy jackets that were then embroidered with common motifs from Japanese culture. Doing what Americans do best, they took these images and fused them with American iconography because nothing is valid until it has been Americanized.
